Some days everything clicks. 27 April 2025 was one of those days. Playing for Wellingborough Indians Sunday 1st XI against Werrington CC, I produced a genuine all-round match-winning performance.
The Numbers
| Discipline | Figures | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Batting | 106* | Not out |
| Bowling | 4/33 | 7.2 overs |
The Batting
Opening the innings, I found rhythm quickly. The outfield was quick and anything short was being dispatched. I built through the gears — singles and twos early, then boundaries once I was set. Reaching three figures for just the second time in my career was special, but doing it while remaining not out made it even sweeter.
The Bowling
With the ball, I came on as first-change and immediately found turn and bounce. 4 wickets for 33 runs from 7.2 overs broke the spine of the Werrington chase. The off-spin was doing just enough to beat the outside edge, and when batters tried to attack, they found fielders.
Why It Matters
A century and four wickets in the same match is rare at any level. It's the kind of performance that defines an all-rounder — dominating with both bat and ball in a single afternoon. This was also the start of the most prolific week of my career: just seven days later, I'd score 162 not out against City CC.
The 2025 season had truly begun.
